8 First Black Friday TV Deals: 65 inches, Mini LED, OLED, and More
Now a good one time to get a new TV. We’ve tested all the latest and greatest models throughout the year, but we’re just starting to see the first discounts on our top models in 2021. You’re also watching college football on Saturday, starting HBO’s new season Compliance, or play your new one Nintendo Switch OLED on the big screen, here are some amazing discounts to upgrade your home viewing experience.
Updated November 3: All of these deals are still active! We’ve added a new deal to a Sony Bravia, and we’ll continue to update this post as we approach Black Friday.
Special offer for Gear readers: Get 1 year subscription to WIRED at $ 5 ($ 25 discount). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you prefer). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.
This is the sweet spot for most TV buyers, where you can find good technology and good interfaces at a relatively low price.
The TCL 6-Series (9/10, Recommended by WIRED) has been our favorite TV for most people for many years in a row, and this very good 2020 model is still what we want. It has mini LED backlighting for better black levels and a very usable Android TV interface, making everything from downloading apps to casting from your phone very easy. This deal also applies at Walmart.
If you want something bigger than the TCL above, this model from Samsung is a solid choice. I like that it has Alexa onboard, so you can set timers and ask them the time. (You can turn off Alexa if you don’t want to use it.) This deal is also available Best Buy.
The 5-Series is the best TV under $ 500. You get a quantum dot display, an Android TV interface6 series, and Alexa compatibility. Plus, the included voice remote makes it easy to find your favorite content. This deal also applies to Best Buy and Walmart.
Sony’s 48-inch OLED offers amazing picture quality, with black OLED inks being so popular. The only downside to this one is that it lacks the ability to play 4K video at 120 HZ, which means you probably don’t want to pair it with Sony’s Playstation 5. This deal too is at Target.
Looking for a big screen to watch your favorite teams or TV movies? These two are good options.
The quantum dot technology inside this 75-inch Samsung makes it bright and vibrant, perfect for larger living rooms with windows. I also like the center pedestal stand, which allows the TV giant to fit standard-size TV consoles. This deal also applies to Best Buy.
Sony is another maker of good big TVs, and it has a partner Android TV built-in, added Alexa compatibility for quick search. It also has Sony’s amazing MotionFlow XR technology, which helps explain high-speed objects like players and balls when watching games, and all screen action when playing. The 85-inch model as well sold for $ 2,000 ($ 500 discount).
After a long term upgrade? Here are the best deals on some of the most beautiful TVs on the market.
It’s Samsung’s 4K flagship, and it’s an surprisingly nice-looking TV (8/10, Recommended by WIRED). The Mini LED backlighting combines the company’s Neo QLED quantum dot technology to make it the best screen we’ve seen in bright rooms (and one of the best we’ve seen in the dark).
If you have a dark room to watch it (or any room, really), the C1 is the most beautiful TV I’ve seen this year (8/10, Recommended by WIRED). It’s also great for gamers, thanks to HDMI 2.1 inputs and a 120-Hz refresh rate providing super-smooth onscreen motion.
