The Galaxy S21 Ultra Has the Best Cameras
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (8/10, Recommended WIRED) is our favorite high-end camera phone for the better part of a year, especially since its camera system is unmatched in the US. This phone has two telephoto zoom cameras, a 3X and a 10X optical zoom. That means you can zoom things too far and still get weird results, something most smartphones don’t. Those two cameras are paired with an ultrawide and a 108-megapixel main sensor, both of which capture pleasing images. It remains the last camera phone, though we’ll wait to see when Google arrives Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro the crown can be removed.
That’s just the camera. It’s also one of the most popular smartphones around, with a wide 6.8-inch OLED screen, which also has a 120-Hz refresh rate, and the whole thing is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip. This will last an entire day on one charge; just remember to purchase a separate charging adapter, because Samsung does not include one in the box.
There are some evils. There’s no MicroSD card slot, so if you plan on capturing a lot of 8K video (stay in HD or 4K), the 128 gigabytes of storage will fill up. It’s also a great phone and a bit more expensive, albeit at a discount.
